Ridiculous: College Students Demand University Rename ‘Lynch Hall’ Because of the Word ‘Lynch’

It is a common practice for universities to honor esteemed alumni, past presidents and generous benefactors by naming a building or a wing after them. However, students at a small Pennsylvania college are now jumping-on the #BlackLivesMatter bandwagon to offer the most ridiculous of demands.

Students at Lebanon Valley College want a hall that had been named for a past longtime school president to be renamed. Why? Because the hall, Lynch Hall, has the word “lynch” in it and students assert that the name conjures thoughts of lynchings, the infamous, extralegal hangings conducted often used to intimidate and silence blacks.

The hall is named after Clyde A. Lynch, the president of Lebanon Valley College from 1932 until his death in 1950.

So, it appears we have reached a point in society where context means nothing and a last name can be considered offensive.

In keeping with the black supremacy efforts that have infected colleges around the country, students issued a list of demands to school officials including a renaming of Lynch Hall to include Lynch’s first name and possibly his middle initial, a more diverse curriculum at the school, more re-education efforts for faculty (though it was called “sensitivity training”) and regular assessments of the racial diversity on campus…Because racial diversity is great, but diversity of thought cannot be tolerated.

The school maintains that they are considering all demands and will address them at a forum next month. They have also asserted that Lynch remains an important figure in the school’s history, having held the university together through the Great Depression and the Second World War.

This kind of lunacy is precisely the kind of next-level outrageousness one can expect from placating bullies. For weeks, race-hustlers and black supremacists have taken-over campuses and extorted special treatment from school administrators. While playing the role of “victims,” they have become the oppressors of any and all who don’t agree with their ludicrous assertions of persecution and have even succumbed to imposing segregation against whites to showcase what modern leftist tolerance looks like.

Weeks ago, at schools like Mizzou and Yale, administrators should have clamped-down on these bullies and offered them a deal: get back to class or get expelled.

That officials have continually caved on important issues has only emboldened others and it’s time this nonsense stops.

Hopefully, Lebanon College has the good sense to not denigrate an important school figure in order to quell radical ravings.
