Sen. Kelly Ayotte: Donald Trump is ‘Absolutely’ a Role Model for Children; Issues CORRECTION

Kelly Ayotte Donald Trump

Senator Kelly Ayotte (RINO-NH), who is in an election battle against Democrat Governor Maggie Hassan to try to keep her Senate seat, may not have officially endorsed Donald Trump, but on Monday, she said that the liberal New York real estate tycoon is “absolutely” a good role model for children

Ayotte, who has a liberal voting record that would make most Democrats proud, was asked during a debate against Maggie Hassan if she would tell children to “be like Donald Trump,” Ayotte answered in the affirmative.

“I think that certainly there are many role models that we have and I believe he can serve as president, and so absolutely I would do that,” Ayotte answered, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, both during the Olympics and since, has been running blistering ads to the contrary, showing the bloviating billionaire and reality TV actor — in his own words — speaking things on television that no good parent would want their young kids to hear, with sweet little innocent children gathered around the television looking on.

The question was obviously a trap by the debate monitor, and Ayotte was placed in a lose-lose situation where there is no good answer. If she said “no,” she would have been seen by Trump supporters as being disloyal and disrespectful to the Republican nominee. But saying “yes,” she is seen as not necessarily giving a completely honest answer.

Ayotte may have realized she stepped in it, and quickly issued the following correction. Not wanting to have either Trump or Hillary pinned on her, she is now saying that neither are good role models for children.

So now she will look like a flip-flopper, which of course she is. I’m old enough to remember when “absolutely” actually meant absolutely.
