Short Video: Campaign Finance Reform: How it Corrupts and Why It’s a Godawful Idea

I knew my wife would be “the one” when, in high school, after only a few dates, she listened patiently and feigned interest as I explained the ins-and-outs of campaign finance reform. Admittedly, the subject is a bit dry and far from being a “sexy” political issue. But make no mistake: it is one of the most important issues in America today.

Though it is regrettable that money has come to play such a large influence in American politics, like a modern-day arms race between nations, simply “disarming” both sides of the political spectrum is just unrealistic. While liberals whine and complain incessantly about wealthy conservative benefactors, the truth is that not only does the left enjoy these same levels of funds from liberal benefactors, but they enjoy more of them in addition to the support provided by unions and the compliant mainstream media who dutifully carry their messages.

Campaign finance reform legislation not only unconstitutionally limits free political expression, but it is designed to promote corruption.

In the video below, moderate journalist and commentator George Will explains everything one needs to know about the corrupting influence of campaign finance reform in just under six minutes. Check it out.
