Even the most-calculated politicians often understand that their actions have ramifications for others. Only a true sociopath would make decisions that cost the lives of fellow Americans and then shrug-it-off.
Hillary Clinton is such a sociopath. In case anyone had any doubts, her having forgotten the lives lost on her watch in Libya on Monday night should clear that up.
Those witnessing the trainwreck that is the 2016 Democratic primary race have been forced to witness a desperate Clinton shuffle from talking point to talking point without ever landing on a definitive message. She has “reinvented” her image so many times that it has become a joke and even the leftiest of the left can admit that Mrs. Clinton appears thoroughly willing to say and do anything to be the next president.
Want a candidate left of Bernie Sanders? She’ll be that. Want a candidate more moderate? She’ll do that, too. Hell, for the right audience, she’ll even change accents.
In her pursuit of the Oval Office, Clinton has left a path of corruption and destruction in her wake. Her email scandal indicates that she has long peddled influence to the highest foreign bidders to secure a campaign war-chest, but her most-unforgiveable shame is her failure as Secretary of State while Americans were under attack by terrorists.
For months, Ambassador Chris Stevens asked for increased security measures and was denied by Hillary’s State Department. When the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was under attack by Islamic terrorists, she, at best, did nothing to help and, at worst, issued a stand-down order to prohibit American personnel from coming to the aid of the doomed Americans under siege.
As the consulate smoldered and the smell of death lingered over the American property, Hillary joined with President Obama and former Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice to advance a preposterous narrative blaming a YouTube video for the violence, thus diverting attention from the disastrous foreign policy agenda they all were complicit in creating.
During hearings regarding the death of innocent Americans, Clinton lost her cool and gave a telling glimpse into how little she cares about the deaths of four Americans. When asked about the attack, Clinton shouted, “What difference, at this point, does it make?!”
For the families of the dead Americans, I would imagine it matters quite a bit…
On Monday night, during a Democratic townhall hosted by MSNBC, Clinton offered a rambling explanation of her view on foreign policy in the Middle East that was only vaguely tethered to anything one might consider coherency.
Juxtaposing her State Department’s effort in Libya versus Syria, Clinton stated,
“Libya was a different kind of calculation and we didn’t lose a single person … We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO.”
It should be very clear that this is not a “gaffe.” A gaffe is simply a bonehead thing to say. The fact that she seems to have forgotten the lives lost on her watch indicates a pathological incapability to consider anyone or anything other than her own goals.
Nothing- including the deaths of Americans under her charge- is as important to her as furthering her own self-serving narratives.
What is so shocking about Clinton’s response is not that she attempted to defend her tenure as Secretary of State, but that her greatest failure, a failure that cost American lives, doesn’t even register in her mind as she’s defending her record.
