Something Huge is Going On in Turkey, and It has the World Rattled

There are reports out of Turkey, a member of NATO, that a military coup is underway.

The Prime Minister is calling for calm in the country.

Both bridges in turkey have been blocked by Turkish military who are telling people, this is not a drill and instructing them to go home.

Jets are flying low and there are reports of gunfire from Army headquarters.

Numerous military tanks have been positioned throughout the area.

All staff of the Ankara Police Department has been called to duty, immediately.

The Turkish military has declared that they have taken control.

The military has reportedly taken over broadcasting.

Turkey is a known hotbed for terrorist activity and organization. In November 2015, weeks after the highly coordinated terrorist attack in Paris which left more than 130 dead, filmmaker Ami Horowitz infiltrated a boat carrying Syrian refugees from Turkey and learned firsthand about the recruiting efforts within that group by ISIS.

UPDATE, 5:27 pm Eastern:

Ben Shapiro, editor of the Daily Wire, weighed in on Erdogan and his pro-Islamic terrorist stance.

CNN reports that the Turkish military has announced that they have taken over the government and implemented martial law.

UPDATE, 6:30 pm Eastern:

Erdogan says that he will remain in power, even if it means civil war.

The Turkish military, who has taken over the government and declared martial law, says it will honor all existing foreign relations. In explaining the reason for their power seizure, the Turkish military referenced both increased terrorism and autocratic rule by Erdogan. They said the country will now be run by a “Peace Council” to ensure safety of everyone in Turkey.
