Ted Cruz on Brexit: A Wake Up Call for Bureaucrats

Ted Cruz nailed it in an official response to the historic Brexit referendum vote last night, a vote in which British citizens voted for independence from the European Union.

Cruz called the surprising vote a “wake-up call for internationalist bureaucrats from Brussels to Washington, D.C., and a decision for Brits to “preserve their national sovereignty.”

Late Thursday evening, British voters voted to exit the EU by a 52-48 percent margin, sending shockwaves around the world. Professional political pundits largely predicted that Brits would vote to remain in the EU, that they somehow enjoyed having their lives controlled by Eurocrats, but that did not turn out to be the case.

Following the historic vote, Britain Prime Minister David Cameron, who campaigned hard in favor of staying in the EU, announced that he is resigning. A massive 72 percent voter turnout led to Cameron’s colossal loss — a loss also felt by Marxist anti-American President Barack Obama — who was also in favor of Britain remaining under the thumb of the international socialists in the European Union.

“The British people have indicated that they will no longer outsource their future to the EU, and prefer to chart their own course,” Ted Cruz said in his release about Brexit. “The United States can learn from the referendum and attend to the issues of security, immigration and economic autonomy that drove this historic vote.
