Ted Cruz Brings Down the House at Family Leadership Summit [VIDEO]

Ted Cruz sat down for a lengthy question and answer session with pollster Frank Luntz at the Family Leadership Summit, leading the audience into several standing ovations and thunderous applause with his direct, principled and articulate style.

In the beginning of the interview, Luntz, who has strong ties to the GOP political consultant class, tried desperately to get Cruz to admit that the government shutdown he led in a principled stand against Obamacare was a failure, but Cruz wouldn’t take the bait, pointing out that the establishment fear tactic that Republicans would lose the 2014 midterm elections because of the Cruz-led government shutdown (83% of the government wasn’t really shut down) was simply the opposite — Republicans won in a historic landslide.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]”There are a lot of people across the country who are fed up with politicians who promise something on the campaign trail and don’t actually do what they said they would do,” Senator Cruz said about the shutdown, referring to his campaign promise to do everything in his power to stop Obamacare, a line in which he was interrupted by loud applause. “Just about every Republican in Congress campaigned, saying they would do everything humanly possible to stop Obamacare. When I promised 27 million Texans that, I meant it, and I am proud of standing and fighting to honor that promise,” Senator Cruz told Luntz to even louder applause.

Luntz, either playing devil’s advocate or representing the GOP RINO leadership which fought Cruz’s attempt to stop Obamacare, didn’t give up with his narrative that the shutdown was a failure.

“Obamacare is still the law of the land. It has worked its way up to the courts and now it has been — the Supreme Court has rejected the appeal. There’s not much you can point to in the Senate that has been successful,” Luntz told Cruz, while then strangely interrupting himself to ask the crowd whether they would rather have a senator or governor as their next president (a false choice, since he didn’t name a specific candidate), to similar applause.

Cruz smartly jumped in before Luntz could continue his weird diatribe, asking his own question of the audience, completely annihilating Luntz’s attempted narrative that only a governor can lead.

“How many of you would like to have a conservative as your next president?” Cruz asked.

The crowd went wild in the affirmative.

Cruz pointed out in the long fight to get rid of Obamacare that “most wars are not one in a single skirmish,” and that if elected to the presidency, he would repeal “every word of that failed law.”

Perhaps the most uproarious applause came when Cruz proclaimed what should be the outcome of the Planned Parenthood video revealed this week in which a top executive was nonchalantly discussing how the baby butcher factory was illegally selling body parts of murdered babies while chomping on a salad and sipping red wine.

Cruz called the Planned Parenthood ghoulish operation “disgusting” and said that “every American should watch that video and simply say, ‘Are those my values?'”

“Now what should we do? Number one, on tape it appears a senior Planned Parenthood official is admitting to multiple federal felonies, and to multiple felonies at the state and local level.

The U.S. Department of Justice, if it were not simply a partisan arm of the DNC, should open an investigation and prosecute Planned Parenthood!”

Cruz continued, stating that Congress should hold hearings and should “cut off every penny of taxpayer funds” from Planned Parenthood.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”553157113d3ff”][vc_column_text]

After covering several other questions from both Luntz and the audience, something Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be caught dead doing, Cruz concluded by revealing what would be his first action as president.

“You know, Barack Obama is fond of saying that he has a pen and he has a phone. Where if you live by the pen, you die by the pen. And I have said that if I’m elected president, the very first thing I intend to do is revoke every single unconstitutional, illegal executive action Barack Obama has taken.”

Again, the crowd exploded in boisterous approval.
