ZINGER ALERT: Ted Cruz Responds to Trump’s Promise to ELIMINATE the Entire National Debt in 8 Years

Ted Cruz on ABC's "Good Morning America," Monday, April 18, 2016

Ted Cruz blasted Donald Trump’s recent outlandish promise to eliminate not just the national deficit, which runs hundreds of billions of dollars per year, but would also completely eliminate the entire $19 trillion national debt if elected president.

During a town hall on ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday, Cruz was asked to comment on the bloviating billionaire’s nonsensical claim and unleashed a zinger at the New York real estate tycoon, just one day before the New York primary on Tuesday.

As George Stephanopoulos asked Ted Cruz about the feasibility of completely eliminating the entire national debt in only eight years, he noticed that Cruz began chuckling in the middle of the question.

“You don’t think that’s possible?” Stephanopoulos asked the senator from Texas.

“Well listen, Donald’s calculator is missing a few keys,” Cruz zinged. “He’s always interesting to watch. He’s a fun entertainer, but Donald has no real solutions.”

Cruz went on to note that while the Democrats are still holding presidential debates, Trump has refused to debate Cruz one-on-one, despite Cruz’s ongoing challenges.

“You know, it’s been a couple of months since we’ve had a debate, because Donald is terrified of debating,” Senator Cruz said. “The Democrats are debating. Now, why is it that the Democrats think the people of New York deserve a debate, and yet Donald Trump is so scared of a debate that he won’t give the people of New York a debate.” Cruz proclaimed.

You can watch the entire Cruz town hall below. The section about the national debt begins at approximately the 16:30 mark.
