Ted Cruz stunned the political word on Friday, officially endorsing Republican nominee Donald Trump after spending considerable political capital and taking much heat over his decision to not endorse Trump at the Republican National Convention.
Cruz, who on May 3, following vile personal attacks against him and his family by Trump, including attacks against his wife’s looks and an accusation that his father was in on the assassination of JFK, said that Trump was a “pathological liar” and added that he is a “narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen,” issued six key reasons for his surprising endorsement of the bloviating billionaire.
At the GOP convention in July, Cruz urged voters to defeat Hillary Clinton and to “vote their conscience,” but withheld a Trump endorsement, basically taking a wait-and-see approach to see how the campaign progressed. Apparently, the Texas senator likes what he sees as of late according to the surprise endorsement on Friday.
Ted Cruz made the endorsement in a lengthy Facebook post on Friday afternoon, mostly contrasting what he hopes Donald Trump will based upon past promises versus what he knows Hillary Clinton will do — push far-left policies along the same lines as Barack Obama, making a detailed and sophisticated, yet classic lesser of two evils argument.
“If Clinton wins, we know — with 100% certainty — that she would deliver on her left-wing promises, with devastating results for our country,” Cruz argued. “My conscience tells me I must do whatever I can to stop that,” Cruz stated.
“Last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word,” Cruz wrote, before listing six key policy distinctions he views as crucial to America going forward, including the Supreme Court, Obamacare, energy policy, immigration, and Internet freedom.

Cruz’s endorsement absolves him from Sean Hannity’s karate chops, I suppose, but it will not earn him favor from Trump’s most hardenened supporters, who bought into the “Lyin’ Ted” personal smear against a man who has fought tooth and nail for constitutional freedoms, often against both political party establishments, and their hate.
Many Cruz supporters are saddened by the endorsement, according to Facebook comments, often disagreeing with the endorsement of the liberal New York billionaire, although many expressed that they do understand the decision considering the alternative is Hillary Clinton.
