Ted Cruz just released what has to be the most scathing ad of the political season thus far as it powerfully hits Donald Trump, the bombastic billionaire and reality TV star where it hurts the most.
The entire claim that the showman has hung his political hat on is that the New York businessman is the ultimate “dealmaker,” that he would be willing to make deals with the likes of leftist Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer — and even Hillary Clinton who Trump says in the ad, that as secretary of state, “she works hard and she does a really good job,” and that when people look at her record they will realize that she performed “probably above and beyond everybody else and everything else.”
The ad then slams Trump as a crony capitalist, showing Trump — in his own words — admitting that he got whatever he wanted after buying off corrupt politicians, effectively communicating the message that Donald Trump is part of the problem in politics — cronyism and favoritism — not a solution to it.
“I’ve helped Nancy Pelosi, I’ve helped Harry Reid — I’m in business,” Trump says in the ad, a brutal admission from somebody pretending to be a conservative who will take on the political establishment.
Donald Trump admitting that he is in bed with the political establishment cannot possibly help his stance that he is outside the political establishment.
“When they call, I give,” Trump says in the next segment of the three-minute ad. “And you know what, when I need something from them, they are there for me,” he says, shamefully admitting that he has corruptly bought politicians off to garner his success — the very kind of cronyism he now pretends to oppose.
