Trump Performs Same Day Flip-Flop in Major Abortion Fiasco; Ted Cruz Pounces

Bloviating billionaire and reality TV actor Donald Trump was caught in hot water from all sides of the abortion issue on Wednesday after stupidly being suckered into answering a “gotcha” question asked by MSNBC leftist Chris Matthews.

After Matthews pressed Trump into saying that women who have abortions should be legally punished, if the procedure is ever made illegal, Trump back-tracked.

“The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment,” Trump originally told a salivating Chris Matthews. He added, “You know you’ll go back to a position like where they had where people perhaps will go to illegal places.”

Hours later, Trump, the current GOP frontrunner, attempted to walk back his comment in a statement from his campaign which stated, a new position for Trump rather than a clarification, “this issue is unclear, and should be put back into the states for determination.”

Then, the Trump campaign flip-flopped on Trump’s position from only hours earlier, issuing yet again another statement proclaiming that women should not be punished if abortion were ever outlawed.

Constitutional conservative presidential candidate Ted Cruz, presently in second place behind Trump in delegates, issued the following statement (before Trump’s flip-flop but after his original statement), asserting that Trump has once again shown that he has not clearly thought through a variety of issues:

“Once again Donald Trump has demonstrated that he hasn’t seriously thought through the issues, and he’ll say anything just to get attention. On the important issue of the sanctity of life, what’s far too often neglected is that being pro-life is not simply about the unborn child; it’s also about the mother — and creating a culture that respects her and embraces life. Of course, we shouldn’t be talking about punishing women; we should affirm their dignity and the incredible gift they have to bring life into the world.”

As Twitchy reported, Donald Trump received considerable feedback from people on all sides of the abortion issue. Both pro-life and anti-life people ripped the loud-mouthed real estate tycoon:

Quite prophetically, some wise tweep tweeted today during the noon hour that Trump would reverse his position by dinner time. Hilariously, that is precisely what happened:
