Following last night’s GOP presidential debate and the devasting loss of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, constitutional conservative presidential candidate Ted Cruz appeared on ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopoulos to discuss Obama’s announced plans to appoint another lawless leftist radical to the Supreme Court during his final year in office.
Cruz told George Stephanopoulos, a longtime Clinton hack who masquerades as a journalist, that “elections have consequences” and the U.S. Senate was turned over the Republicans in 2014, two years after Obama was re-elected for a second term.
Cruz, a former Supreme Court clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, was emphatic when asked if he would filibuster any attempt to nominate a replacement for Scalia as a “lame-duck president.”
“This should be a decision for the people. Let the election decide, Cruz told Stephanopoulos. “If the Democrats want to replace this nominee, they need to win the election. But I don’t think the American people want a court that will strip our religious liberties. I don’t think the American people want a court that will mandate unlimited abortions on demand, partial birth abortion with taxpayer funding and no parental notification and I don’t think the American people want a court that will write the Second Amendment out of the Constitution.”
While solicitor general of Texas, Ted Cruz argued and won several important cases before the Supreme Court, including cases protecting the Second Amendment, religious liberty and U.S. sovereignty.
As he did in the GOP debate on Saturday night, Cruz hammered bombastic billionaire and reality TV actor Donald Trump on Sunday, noting Trump’s long history of supporting anti-freedom Democrats like Charles Schumer , Harry Reid , Jimmy Carter and Hillary Clinton.
“Anyone that writes checks to Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid and Jimmy Carter and Hillary Clinton does not care about conservative justices on the court,” Cruz said. “Donald Trump himself, you know, the one person he has suggested that would make a good justice is his sister, who is a court of appeals judge appointed by Bill Clinton. She is a hardcore pro-abortion liberal judge and he said she would make a terrific justice.”
Taking another jab at the Trump campaign, Cruz said that it’s time to end the “circus” and the “reality show.”
“The time for the circus and the reality show is over. This is a serious choice. We are talking about losing our basic liberties if we get this wrong,” he declared.
