Principled consistent constitutional conservative Ted Cruz, the closest thing to Ronald Reagan American voters have had since Reagan, announced on Tuesday that he was suspending his presidential campaign after losing the Indiana primary to bloviating billionaire, conspiracy theorist and reality TV actor Donald Trump.
Cruz gave perhaps his most statesman-like speech yet, in his concession speech on Tuesday which was eloquent, powerful and Reaganesque.
With 67.7 percent of precincts reporting, New York liberal Donald Trump outperformed almost all previous Indiana polls, defeating Cruz by a 16-point margin, 53.0 percent to 36.7 percent.
“With a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism, for the long term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign,” Cruz announced to a crowd shouting “NO!”
“But hear me now, I am not suspending our fight for liberty. I am not suspending our fight to defend the Constitution — to defend the Judeo-Christian values that built America. Our movement will continue.
Our movement will continue. And I give you my word that I will continue this fight with all of my strength and all of my ability.”
“You are extraordinary,” Cruz shouted out to the Indiana audience of supporters. “And we will continue to fight next week and next month and next year and together we will continue as long as God grants us the strength to fight on,” he promised.
“In this fight for the long term future of America, there is no substitute for victory,” Cruz said. “There is no substitute for the America that each and every one of us loves with all of our heart — that we believe in with all of our heart — and that together we will restore as a shining city on the hill for every generation to come.”
Ted Cruz ran a miraculous campaign, considering the only real anti-establishment candidate had virtually all media against him, including faux conservative media like Breitbart News and FOX News, including the likes of Sean Hannity, as well as fence-sitters like Rush Limbaugh, who have shown themselves to be much less principled and much less conservative than millions of Americans previously thought. For him to come in second place after having the establishment against him, as well as phony conservative media, is nothing short of outstanding.
With that on top of over $2 billion worth of free media coverage given to New York liberal Trump, Americans are now given the choice between one RINO and another New York liberal, Hillary Clinton.
The Republican Party is all but done, thanks to not only Trump, but also RINOs like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, who took the party of Reagan and morphed it into the party of cronyism, at war with the very base of support that they were supposed to represent — conservatives.
I said it years ago on national radio and I’ll say it again. America is ripe for a new party because there are too many millions of conservatives who have no home in either party.
