Ted Cruz: Today Donald Trump ‘Bowed Down’ to Political Correctness

One of bloviating billionaire Donald Trump’s attractive traits, a trait that made him popular with millions of Americans, was his ability to say whatever politically incorrect thing that came into his head and he was able to get away with it — even benefit from it.

It was a rare, albeit refreshing quality that — at least initially — changed the political landscape and gave the press a much needed (proverbial) punch in the kisser.

But on Thursday, as we reported, Trump communicated that he’s cool with grown men using the same restroom as little girls, specifically stating that people should “use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate.”

Ted Cruz , Trump’s main rival for the GOP presidential nomination, issued a hard-hitting statement in response to Trump’s answer, asserting that:

“Donald Trump isn’t going to defeat political correctness; today he bowed down to it.”

Cruz further opined that Trump “is no different from politically correct leftist elites” by “calling for grown men to be allowed to use little girls’ public restrooms.”

Below is Ted Cruz’s full statement which ties the issue of men using girls’ restrooms to the progressive leftist goal of smashing religious liberty:

“Donald Trump is no different from politically correct leftist elites. Today, he joined them in calling for grown men to be allowed to use little girls’ public restrooms. As the dad of young daughters, I dread what this will mean for our daughters – and for our sisters and our wives. It is a reckless policy that will endanger our loved ones.

“Yet Donald stands up for this irresponsible policy while at the same time caving in on defending individual freedoms and religious liberty. He has succumbed to the Left’s agenda, which is to force Americans to leave God out of public life while paying lip service to false tolerance.

“This is not real tolerance. The Left wants to force its belief system onto Americans across the country and silence people of faith in the public square. Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump is all too eager to join them. This simply confirms that the same man who favored partial-birth abortion and still supports public funding for Planned Parenthood will sacrifice principle on the altar of political correctness. Trump will not defeat political correctness. Today he bowed to it.”

Additionally, Ted Cruz spoke with conservative talk show host, best-selling author, and founder of The Blaze, Glenn Beck, and was highly critical of ESPN’s firing of retired major baseball pitching legend Curt Schilling for “making the rather obvious point” on social media that grown men should not be allowed in a bathroom with little girls:

“That’s crazy. It’s just, that’s not a reasonable position. It is simply crazy. The idea that grown men would be allowed alone in a bathroom with little girls… you don’t need to be a behavioral psychologist to realize bad things can happen and any prudent person wouldn’t allow that. It is only the lunacy of political correctness –if he had fired Curt Schilling—for making the rather obvious point, that we shouldn’t allow grown adult men strangers alone in a bathroom with little girls… That’s a point anyone who is rational should understand.”
