Ted Cruz was Asked if He Would Apologize for Outing RINO Mitch McConnell as a Liar; His Response is PRICELESS!

RINO Mitch McConnell

Last July, Ted Cruz gave a verbal body slam to RINO Senate Majority Leader Surrender Caucus Leader, “Obama’s Mitch” McConnell, calling out the leading establishment squish as a liar — and doing so substantively on the Senate floor.

As I reported at the time, Cruz was very specific about how Mitch McConnell not only lied to Ted Cruz, but how he lied to every Republican in the Senate.

Cruz describes how, weeks ago, when Trade Promotion Authority was being debated, a group of senators gathered on the Senate floor and blocked TPA because they wanted to push the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank.

After discussions in front of C-Span and the world, TPA suddenly had the votes to pass.

Cruz then shared McConnell’s reaction to a simple question that he asked, one that should have been easily answered with honesty. But, instead it garnered an angry response from McConnell and a lie.

“Shortly thereafter we had a Senate Republican lunch,” Cruz shared, “where I stood up and I asked the Senate Majority Leader [McConnell] very directly, ‘What was the deal that was just cut on TPA and was there a deal for the Export-Import bank?’”

Cruz described McConnell as being visibly angry with him for asking that direct question in front of all the other Republicans. He then went on to share McConnell’s response and compared McConnell to Saint Peter, who denied Jesus, as Christ predicted, three times. McConnell, according to Cruz, looked at him and said, “There is no deal. There is no deal. There is no deal.”

McConnell claimed that he only told those who supported the Ex-Im bank that they could offer an amendment, but was emphatic and repeated that he gave or promised them nothing.

During a discussion later that day with his staff, Cruz said they told him that McConnell was lying. They shared they have been around the Senate long enough to know that McConnell was not being truthful.

Still, Cruz wanted to give McConnell the benefit of the doubt. He said, “Well, I don’t know if that’s the case or not, but I don’t see how, when the majority leader looks me in the eyes and makes an explicit promise, and by the way looks in the eyes of every other Republican senator and says that to every other Republican senator, I don’t see how I can’t take him at his word when he makes an explicit promise.”

Because he believed McConnell, Cruz cast his vote in favor of TPA in May because he believes in free trade and believed McConnell’s emphatic claim that there was no deal regarding the Ex-Im Bank.

Cruz said it was abundantly clear after it went to the House that there was indeed a deal, and he realized McConnell outright lied.

This is not the only instance of McConnell outright lying. Cruz went on to list and explain other instances of McConnell not misspeaking, but lying and McConnell proved it during a vote Friday morning.

McConnell called up the TPA amendment in favor of the Ex-Im Bank knowing that as senate majority leader, if he calls up an amendment it takes priority. It also essentially blocks all other amendments.

This tactic, Cruz explains, makes Mitch McConnell no better than Democrat Senator Harry Reid. The conservative base did their part in an attempt to rescue the country from the tyranny of Barack Obama by returning power in the Senate to the Republicans in another wave in 2014 that finally gave Republicans control of both Houses of Congress.

No one disputed that Mitch McConnell lied, including his most ardent supporters and colleagues, however, that didn’t stop RINO relics Orrin Hatch , Lamar Alexander and John McCain from attacking — not McConnell the liar — but Ted Cruz for exposing his lies. They insisted that Cruz, not McConnell apologize, and are still butthurt over the matter today, saying that the GOP establishment won’t get behind Cruz in the presidential race until he does.

As part of a one-hour town hall where Ted Cruz was interviewed by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, which will be shown tonight, Thursday, at 8 pm Eastern, Cruz was asked if he planned to apologize to McConnell:

Chuck Todd: But you called the Senate majority leader a liar on the Senate floor.  That has not set well with your colleagues.  Do you regret calling him a liar on the Senate floor?

Ted Cruz: You know Washington is an amazing place.  When somebody stands up and lies to you, and someone else points out that they lied—

Todd: He lied to you?  You still stand by–?

Cruz: Every word I said there was true and accurate, no one has disputed a word I said.  The reaction in the Senate is “how dare you say that out loud!” They’re not upset that somebody lied to them! [audience laughter]  I mean, that’s the amazing thing!

Todd: If that’s the case, how do you stand working with somebody who lies to you and how can you work with him going forward?

Cruz: What I have done from day one is endeavored—and it’s a promise I made to the people who elected me. I’m going to tell the truth, and I’m going to do what I said I would do.

In other words, never. It is still shocking that no reporter is asking RINO Mitch McConnell to apologize for lying and deceiving his Senate colleagues and fellow Republicans.

Ted Cruz has stood consistently on the constitutional principles he took an oath to uphold and fight for, which is why the establishment, led by bloviating billionaire and reality TV actor Donald Trump, a New York liberal who has been the money bags for the establishment, hate Cruz so much and turn themselves into pretzels trying to smear Cruz with labels like “Lyin’ Ted,” a projection of magnificent proportions.
