Regarding ‘The Rich’

The “rich” are one of the left’s favorite punching bags. The primary reason the left demonizes rich folk is that once they are successful in doing so, it is easier to demand that they receive punishment through increased taxation.

A great irony is that the left portrays the rich as thieves and then requires that the government confiscate their riches by way of theft.  We are increasing becoming a nation that shows disdain for the financially successful.

A caveat: the left seeks to label and demonize certain factions of rich people involved in particular industries. There are vast swaths of rich citizens who have immunity and exemption from the left’s attacks on the wealthy.

Whenever Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders rail against the “millionaires and billionaires” and mention an example, you can bet your lunch money that it won’t be Mark Zuckerberg. You can be fabulously wealthy beyond the wildest dreams of the common man and entirely avoid the wrath of the left. Just make sure your riches came to be via certain industries such as entertainment, academia, liberal government, “green energy”, liberal social media, Silicon Valley, or sports.

If your riches came the way of industries such as “Wall Street,” finance, banking, energy or industry, prepare to atone. All money is green, but there are Blue and Red riches.

One way to demonize the rich is to introduce the idea that they did not earn their riches. The system is “rigged,” or as President Obama stated, “you didn’t build that” or “you’re lucky.” This latest canard: riches are the result of luck —  is especially offensive. Imagine an entrepreneur who went broke multiple times and then through decades of trial and error, sweat and toil, became wealthy only to be dismissed out-of-hand as “lucky.”

We, on the right, defend the obtaining of wealth by reminding the left that rich people pay the lion’s share of taxes that are then used to fund programs for the unfortunate among us. This posit is summarily dismissed by the left because they do not care if such is the case. The left seeks to castigate the rich. They will never be happy until all the rich that they hate so much are trotted out onto the public square and covered in excrement like Queen Cersei. In fact, the High Sparrow in the Game of Thrones, who demanded Cersei be so humiliated is a perfect manifestation of the smug, elitist left forcing atonement from their enemies.

President Obama and others like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D), of Massaschussets, love to regale about how all the infrastructure, the “roads and bridges” and services such as police and firemen are all gifts bestowed upon the people by a wonderful beneficent government; the great provider. Pure garbage. Every road and bridge and public servant’s salary are paid by taxes and fees and as aforementioned, mostly by rich people. They usually wax on like this during speeches at Universities or famous halls that are the result of philanthropy from the wealthy.

Even more ironic is that often when a politician is railing against the “rich”, they fail to mention such a category includes themselves. Elizabeth Warren is a multi-millionaire.

But then again, she’s “blue money”, so it’s cool.
