On March 13, 2016, a man entered a 7/11 in Burien, (a suburb of Seattle, Washington), wearing a mask and, swinging a hatchet, attacked the clerk who was on duty.
Ghastly, huh? Thing is, a long time customer getting his coffee was there as well, witnessing the horrifying event unfold. But he was armed. He had his concealed carry license and his gun. Before the madman could inflict the awful destruction he sought, the armed customer stopped him with a bullet.
The news of this event was published worldwide. But no gun control or “anti-gun” group mentioned it. One does not have to wonder why.
It should be noted that the man who shot the would-be murderer asked to remain anonymous.
Do you know why the concealed carry hero in this instance requested such a thing? Because we, the concealed carry community, will never be proud, nor want to advertise that we took a life. It is a profoundly sad and unfortunate event. We have to deal with and confer with our Creator if such an outcome is the result of our actions.
However, in the effort to defend ourselves, our family and yes, YOU, our fellow citizens, we take on, with ultimate responsibility and respect, the right to go out into the public, armed.
Please trust us.
We are your sheepdogs; the hatchet men, wolves. We mean no harm whatsoever to the general public. We carry to protect ourselves and you, in the absence of our heroes, our first responders, from the action of madmen and the criminal element that are many times bent with causing destructive, violent actions that can result in the loss of your most precious possession: your very life.
We are incredulously responsible and know the right to conceal and carry is a heavy one. The vast majority of us practice at our gun ranges regularly and we honor, are subject to, and practice the most extensive safety precautions regarding our firearms.
