The Statement by Donald Trump That Caused Loud Boos at the Values Voter Summit [VIDEO]

Billionaire real estate tycoon, reality TV star and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has been a magnet for large and very supportive crowds throughout the young presidential campaign.

However, at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., a large gathering of conservatives on Friday, Trump made one statement that resulted in something that his large ego isn’t used to hearing — loud boos.

“You have this clown, Marco Rubio,” Trump said, having to pause because of the loud chorus of boos from the crowd who took exception to the ridicule.

Trump went on to criticize Rubio’s soft stance on illegal immigration and his involvement in the now infamous “Gang of Eight” group that intended to push comprehensive immigration reform that included amnesty for illegal aliens.

Politico reported that Trump was slamming Marco Rubio, who also spoke at the event, even before the speech, saying that Rubio has “got the worse record in the entire United States Senate,” and accused him of being “obviously not a very hard worker.”

Rubio, who has been inching up in the recent polls, may be getting under Trump’s skin. On Thursday, the Florida senator referred to Donald Trump as “insecure” and “touchy.”

“He takes shots at everybody that gets anywhere close to him, in terms of a poll, or anytime he hits a rough spot, that’s what he does,” Rubio told WLAP.

“He had a really bad debate performance last week, he’s not well informed on the issues, he really never talks about issues and can’t have more than a 10 second sound bite on any key issue,” Rubio said. “So I think he’s really been exposed a little bit over the last seven days and he’s a very touchy and insecure guy and so that’s how he reacts. And people can see through it.”

“Marco Rubio, he’s like a kid. He shouldn’t be running in this race as far as I’m concerned,” Trump responded.
