A 14-year old boy, Andrew Mason, was home and babysitting his 6-year old brother while his parents were away. Suddenly, every parent’s worst nightmare happened. There was a ring on the doorbell. Then, more continuous rings. After awhile, the two intruders began trying to knock the door down. It was at that time that Andrew sprang into action.
The kids were trained to not answer the door when home alone and when the ringing continued, Andrew did what he was taught by his father, Kieawa, to do. He grabbed his brother, put him in the closet and told him to stay. He then grabbed a cell phone and his rifle, and hid with his brother. But, he would eventually come face to face with the one of the intruders.
One of the intruders eventually opened the closet door where the kids were hiding. Andrew had already called 911, but he was ready with his rifle just in case. When the intruder entered the closet, he found Andrew with his rifle ready to shoot.
“I had my gun loaded and ready to shoot, but when he saw me he just took off running,” Andrew said
It was a scenario that Andrew and his dad had practiced many times, but of course in hopes of Andrew never having to implement the plan. Andrew’s father, Kieawa, expressed great pride in his son for his actions while expressing his belief in the Second Amendment. He said, “I believe in the right to bear arms, and it’s not like he was foreign to it. We go to the shooting range quite often. We go to the Clark County shooting range quite often. We go to Range 702.”
He added, “He’s excellent. He did everything perfectly. [He] couldn’t have done better, and he’s actually a hero.”
The Left is constantly pushing to strip Americans of their Second Amendment rights. Had their desires for gun control been implemented, Andrew and his brother would have been sitting ducks without the ability to protect themselves.
Seeing that rifle in Andrew’s hands sent the intruder running. Had he not had it, the end of this story may have been dramatically different.
The family’s camera system caught the intruders in crystal clear pictures. After sharing pictures on social media and with the police, Kieawa Mason said he has the names of the two who broke into his home. He’s now just waiting for police to pick them up and arrest them.
