Congressman Trey Gowdy went on FOX and Friends Wednesday morning to explain his endorsement of fellow Republican Marco Rubio for president.
Many conservatives are livid with Gowdy, who has been seen by some as a staunch conservative based upon his tough interrogation skills, because of Rubio’s weak stance on illegal immigration, including his leadership in the 2013 “Gang of Eight” Rubio-Schumer amnesty bill.
In fact, Gowdy got skewered on social media from outraged conservatives for supporting Rubio as stopping illegal immigration is seen as a major issue this election cycle (evidence: Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are #1 and #2 in all national polls).

Marco Rubio’s Achilles heel is definitely amnesty and illegal immigration, but it is interesting that Gowdy wasn’t asked about it during his interview on FOX News. Instead, the focus of the questions asked were in regards to much easier to answer questions, like Donald Trump’s bashing of Gowdy for endorsing Rubio and Rubio’s attendance record in the U.S. Senate while running for president.
It appears as though Marco Rubio is the GOP establishment’s last hope, following the failed campaigns — at least thus far — of RINOs Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki, etc., etc.
You can bet your sweet bippy that Rubio will receive plenty of good coverage on FOX News over the coming weeks to see if they can give his campaign legs.
