Two NYPD Officers Have Been Shot by a Heavily Armed Man

Two sergeants with the New York Police Department have been shot. While the officers have not been identified, officials have confirmed that one officer is in serious condition after being shot in the head and the other officer was shot in the leg.

The New York Daily News reports that a heavily armed gunman engaged the officers in a firefight in broad daylight. The gunman, identified as Manuel Rosales, died in the gunfire.

The officers were in pursuit of Rosales after reports of a home invasion. The officers are at the Jacobi Medical Center receiving treatment. The officer shot int he leg is expected to survive. The officer shot in the head is in serious condition and in need of prayers.
