[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]Breitbart Texas reports that the helicopter was on the United States side of the border and participating in the interdiction of a narcotics load that was coming from Mexico. Across the border from Laredo is Nuevo Laredo, home of the Los Zetas drug cartel headquarters.

A federal agent on condition of anonymity spoke with Breitbart about the incident. This agent confirmed the gunfire upon the chopper and the emergency landing. He said, “U.S. Border Patrol agents were attempting to intercept a drug load. A law enforcement chopper was assisting Border Patrol agents. The chopper received gunfire from the Mexican side of the border. The chopper had to do an emergency landing due to the gunfire.”

When the chopper came under fire, it was participating in a well-coordinated operation with participants from both the Mexico and U.S. sides of the border. The focus of the operation was the interception of a drug load.

There were two different accounts of what parts of the chopper were hit by the Mexican gunfire. One source said two shots hit the cabin and one hit the engine. Another source said that one shot hit the cabin and two hit the engine.

Thankfully, none of agents aboard the helicopter were injured. In fact, it is believed that the bullet proof vest that was on the floor saved the life of one of the agents.

The individuals who were involved in the attack on the chopper got away, with some believed to have gotten away into the state of Texas.
