Liberal zealots are often fond of cloaking their unconstitutional efforts in coy phrasings. They will assert that they are not interested in curbing the First Amendment, only prohibiting “hate speech.”
They claim that they are supportive of the Second Amendment, but only wish to see “commonsense” regulations put upon the right that is uninfringeable.
Few actually say what they mean, that the left aims to disarm Americans.
One Democrat, however, let it slip that the goal of the Democrat Party should not be the institution of “commonsense gun control,” but that she believes that nobody should have guns.
During a meeting of the Democratic National Committee’s platform-drafting committee, DNC official Bonnie Schaefer remarked that she did not believe that “anyone should have a gun.”
The 15-person committee is responsible for crafting the official platform of the Democrat Party. The committee heard testimony from Lucia McBath, the mother of Jordan Davis, a man shot in Jacksonville, Florida.
Though McBath cloaked her hatred for the Second Amendment in more-traditional terms by insisting that the government should implement “commonsense gun measures,” Schaefer went even further and boldly declared,
“I do believe that you’re absolutely correct – not just keeping the guns out of mentally ill people and criminals, but I really don’t personally think anyone should have a gun. I mean, that’s just my own philosophy. Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand except the worst possible scenario.”
“Nothing is ever solved?” I suppose the countless people saved each year with home defense weapons would beg to differ.
Each and every day in America, “good guys with guns” save the day for themselves and for others. Mothers kill intruders; fathers kill robbers. My best friend is alive today because he was carrying when a robber made the mistake of seeing him as a soft target.
From the liberation of Europe to the killing of a home invader, there have been plenty of problems solved with the appropriate use of a gun.
It will be interesting to see if the DNC will have armed security at their convention. If guns are never the answer, why are so many liberals guarded by men with guns?
This may be Schaefer’s personal opinion, but her opinion is considered when crafting the Democrats’ official platform. Just as it would be inappropriate to have a Klan member on a platform-crafting committee, it is inappropriate to have an ignorant despot have a voice in the official policy positions of the Democrat Party.
Refusal to remove her from this position should be seen as tacit assent to Schaefer’s position on the part of the DNC.
