[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]MSNBC’s Chris Matthews had yet another ‘open mouth, insert foot’ moment during his show Hardball on Thursday. Matthews was interviewing black actors from HBO’s The Wire and asked a question with terminology and imagery so questionable that if a conservative host had asked the same question, the Left would have immediately gone on the attack accusing them of being raging, bigoted racists.[/vc_column_text][banner300 banner=”5517620b381df”][vc_column_text]Some on the Left have been trying to place the blame of Baltimore’s unrest due to what is being called lack of opportunity and hope on Republicans, despite the fact that the city has been a Democrat stronghold for over 150 years. It has a black mayor, a black prosecutor, a black police commissioner, a black president of the City Council, and over 40% of its police force is black with a total of over 50% being a minority.
But, those facts have not stopped the Left, and their minions in the media, from trying to deflect away from the hopelessness and lack of opportunity that is a result of failed progressive leaders and policies.
As he interviewed the actors, Matthews asked Gbenga Akinnagbe for his thoughts on why there is so little positive progress that can be shown by black Democrats who have remained loyal to the party. He also inquired if the Congressional Black Caucus should ‘crack the whip’ more.
I kid you not.
Transcript: Well, what do you think of local politicians in the black community. Do you think they put the pressure on the majority in the country? Do they use their clout? There’s an awful lot of members of the African-American and Black Caucus in the D.C. and federal government. And I just wonder, do they crack the whip enough? Do they make sure that people listen to them, you know, as a deal. If you want to be part of the majority that wins elections, you’ve got to help us.
Can you imagine if those words, pondering if the whip is being cracked enough while talking about black politicians to a black actor, had been uttered by Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly or anyone on Fox News. Or if Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck had said them? There would have been massive outrage with a call for their removal from the air.
But, the insensitive comment was made by Chris ‘Tingle Up his Leg’ Matthews. So, there’s silence.
