Virginia Orders 1,600 People to Turn-In Their ‘Confederate’ License Plates… Vast Majority REFUSE

Caesar and a phrase shouted by Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth, after he jumped to the below stage of Ford’s Theater.

The phrase means “thus always to tyrants” and it is especially ironic as the citizens of Virginia now must succumb to the tyrannical demands of the state government that seeks to scrub their state of their history.

Though, in the past, Virginia has issued license plates with the seal of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a heritage group, the state of Robert E. Lee has made it illegal to possess such license plates and are demanding that those with them turn them in.

Kevin Collier, a commander of the Stonewall Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, claims that he received a letter from Virginia officials declaring that he had until October 4th, 2015, to surrender his license plate with the seal on it.

Now, thanks to the efforts of Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe, possessing a license plate with the Confederate seal is a misdemeanor crime.

Still, Collier and others will not be relinquishing their license plates any time soon.

“Next thing you know, they’re going to say you can’t wear blue on Monday…or you can’t wear yellow on Thursday,” Collier explained. “Where’s it going to end?”

Collier is hardly alone in his resistance to tyranny. Although 1,600 other proud Virginians received the letter demanding that they turn-in their license plates with the seal on it, only 187 have done so.

Reportedly, a few sent-back their new license plates without the seal on it with “no, thank you” notes.

Collier expressed a belief system that simply escapes so many lawmakers and political pundits; he explained that his heritage “means everything to me.” His great-great-great-grandfather fought for the Confederacy and Collier noted,

“I can’t fight on the battlefield like they did, but I can fight however I can in modern times and I’m not giving them plates up.”

The principle of family honor and the belief in reverence for one’s heritage appears to be something the left simply doesn’t understand. Part of being a “progressive” today means bulldozing the past and the pillars upon which society once sustained itself. A reverence for things like family, honor, tradition, history and marriage are all principles that are noticeably absent from modern liberal ideology.

Thankfully, there are still many who understand that to give-up on these fights is to succumb to cultural suicide.

If only Robert E. Lee could see what has become of his beloved Virginia…
