Walker Takes Shot at Senators Running for President: Fighters Who ‘Haven’t Won a Whole Lot of Victories Yet’

Wisconsin Governor and probable 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker spoke at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Oklahoma on Thursday. Below are a few excerpts, including a thinly veiled shot at the Senators in the race (Cruz, Rubio and Paul), who he said are “fighting the good fight, but they haven’t won a whole lot of victories yet.”

Possible 2016 announcement– “Part of the reason I’m even thinking about what I’m thinking about, and we haven’t announced anything yet, I think going forward, we need someone who can fight and win and win the battles we need to move the country forward with common sense conservative reforms. That’s what we need to move America forward.”

On ISIS and Israel– “We need, going forward a commander-in-chief in this country who will tell it like it is and lay out that radical Islamic terrorism is a threat to us all and we’re going to do something to stop it. We need to acknowledge that Israel is an ally of the United States and start treating them as such.”

Other GOP Candidates “There are lots of great people out there who are thinking about or are currently in the race for president on the Republican side. There are some of those folks, particularly folks in Washington, who are really good fighters. They’re fighting the good fight, but they haven’t won a whole lot of victories yet.”

Obama and Hillary– “I listen to people like President Obama and Hillary Clinton, I would swear that they think you grow the economy by growing government. There’s a reason we take the Fourth of July off and not the 15th of April, because in America we celebrate our independence from the government not our dependence on the government.”
