Even though the Republican-controlled Senate has said they will not vote on a Supreme Court nomination from Barack Obama following the untimely and unexpected death of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Obama nominated someone anyway.
Although many are attempting to pass him off as a moderate, Obama’s pick, D.C. Circuit Judge Merrick Garland, is no moderate. In fact, one of the glaring examples of his radicalism is that he stands in opposition to the Second Amendment and in support of gun control. So, one would think Leftists would love him, right? Wrong.
MSNBC reports that liberal activists view the pick of Garland, who is 60-years-old and white, as “uninspiring” and “disappointing.”
MSNBC reporter Ron Allen shared the following with Brian Williams.
“I’ve been talking to some Democrats, some activists who the White House has been talking to throughout this process. And the word I’m hearing is ‘uninspiring.’ I’m also hearing the word ‘disappointing.’”
“The disappointment stems from the fact that Garland — his age, he’s in his sixties — he’s white. he’s from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. He’s from Harvard. He does not bring what people see as more diversity to the court.”
Yes, this is where we are in America. We are in a time where age and skin color are bigger factors in determining support for a Supreme Court justice than policy positions and defense, or in this case lack thereof, of the Constitution.
