Donald Trump made remarks yesterday during an appearance on the Today Show that really has people talking. When asked about the North Carolina Bathroom Bill, which many have attacked as “transphobic” since it uses common sense by requiring individuals to go to the bathroom that coincides with the gender on their birth certificate, Trump, who is supposedly anti-PC, gave the quintessential PC answer calling the Bathroom Bill wrong. He also said he, just like Democrat presidential candidates and socialists Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, will raise taxes on the wealthy.
There have been doubts by many that Trump is not the conservative Republican he has presented himself to be and these comments raise that question even further. On Friday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough commented on Trump’s political leanings and will no doubt start a firestorm with what he said.
In discussing Trump’s comments on The Morning Joe, Scarborough said that Trump is and always has been a centrist Democrat and that will make it difficult for Democrats to attack him should he make it to the general election. (video below)
“It’s going back to what he’s always been. We’ve said on this air, non-stop, he is a Democrat. He is a centrist Democrat. He gave money to Democrats for years. He’s never been a conservative. And that’s not been a secret to anybody and yet he’s blown the doors off of every Republican primary and when he goes into the general election it’s going to be harder for Democrats to say, ‘Oh, he’s a right-wing religious fanatic that is going to keep you away from abortions…”
In other words, Republican voters who have voted for Trump have been punked. This also ties in with Trump’s convention manager Paul Manafort’s contention on Thursday that Trump has been putting on an act throughout this campaign, telling people what they wanted to hear, and would be “evolving.”
This is a shocking statement from Scarborough who has pretty much been a Trump fanboy throughout his campaign. In fact, the cozy relationship between Scarborough, his co-host Mika Brzezinski, and Trump was caught on a hot mic in February as Trump thanked the two MSNBC hosts for helping to make him look like “a legendary figure” and coaching them on their line of questioning by requesting nothing too hard.
After these words by Scarborough, it’s doubtful the praise from Trump will continue.
