Too Much Clutter? Try Having A Garage Sale!

Decluttering is good for the soul. It not only gives you more space in the house, but it declutters the mind too. There are so many benefits associated with clearing your living space, such as reducing stress and anxiety, helping you get a good night’s sleep, merely because there are fewer things around you to play in your mind. It also makes you a little more Zen, creating a minimalist approach to living. Decluttering simply reinvigorate the space you have and creates room to breathe. It merely makes you feel as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. So, if you do think that you have far too much clutter about your home, instead of chucking it all away, why not think about having a garage sale. Not only will you feel better, but you may also have a few extra quid in your back pocket too. So, let’s think about how you are going to go about selling those unwanted items.

Decide what to sell

There are going to be a lot of items you no longer want or use. Start by going through each room and making a pile of the things you no longer use or want. Go through your wardrobes and attic too. Think about getting rid of that old furniture too. There are going to be so many things you can sell. Homes become so cluttered that the more you find, the more you will put in the for sale pile. Even put things like old chargers, etc., into the pile. Everything has value to someone.

Pick a date

First, ensure with the local council that it is legal to have a garage sale, then advertise. Print little posters and stick them up around town. Advertise on your social media accounts too. Let all your friends and family know to get the word out.

Pricing

Make sure you do a little research and figure out what the going price is for all your items. Be prepared to haggle and know your bottom line. Label everything with the appropriate price tag. It is definitely worth your while having a float. So get that change out of the 2p jar.

After the sale

Once the garage sale is over and if you have anything left over, think about putting all the items in storage, such as at the Storage units in Staples Corner. This is especially good if you have large items and want to keep them safe while you decide what to do.

Online sales

Take photos of everything you have left and upload then on to ebay, or gumtreem or shpock, or all three and continue the garage sale online. Just because the day is over doesn’t mean the sale has to end. In fact, you could just go straight to selling online if you do not have the space for a garage sale. Again, get the world out and let people know you want rid of things. Friends and family members could be great buyers.
